Hoya Circular Polariser Pro 1D DMC Filter 62mm 67mm

$199.00

The Hoya 62mm 67mm Circular Polariser Pro 1D DMC Filter is a high quality glass filter made by HOYA. The Hoya Circular Polarizer is the choice of most Auto Focus camera users.

Light rays that are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer, with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds and can be seen through the viewfinder. HOYA's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot.

The Value in a Hoya Multi-coated filter

The wide aperture lenses of today are very expensive and all photographers want to get the most speed, optical performance, and dollar performance from their investment.

Say a customer pays $500.00 for a 28-70mm f/2.8 lens. Then, to protect this investment the customer buys a cheap bare glass filter, which has a light reflection rate of 9%. This filter is literally slowing the lens down by 9%, or effectively turning a $500 f/2.8 lens into the equivalent of a slower f/3.0 lens worth $455. The value of the lens drops 9% when you put the cheap filter on it. The cost savings of the less expensive filter do not off set the loss of lens speed.

Also, this does not address the loss of sharpness or focus shift, which can have a noticeable detrimental impact on picture quality. For these reasons, Hoya multi-coated filters present the best value on the market today.

Circular Polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems). This filter is threaded front and back. You can screw another filter to it or another accessory like a lens hood.

There are few more important things that a nature photographer can do to improve his or her photography than becoming familiar with the use of the polarizing filter.

What can a polarizing filter do for you? Among other things it can darken the sky, remove reflections from water, and make foliage appear less shiny. Colour saturation is also significantly enhanced. It is the only filter for use with colour film that can do all of this.

A polarizing filter is the most productive accessory that a photographer can have in his kit, second only to a decent tripod and head. Don't leave home without one.
